New Shows and Racing Schedule for Drag Race Girl
20 September 2009
Bakersfield Divisional
So, Glenn raced and he did pretty good considering that he hasn't been in the car for over a year.
He made it to second round.
We saw a lot of our friends and made a few new ones, which is always fun to do. I learned that Capt. Morgan and Dr. Pepper go really good together!
I did do some work for Drag Race Girl! It wasn't all fun and racing you know. I made bows out of red, white, and blue ribbons and went around and asked for $1 donation to help me with the goody bags for the kids. Well to my surprise, the racers and crew members that I had a chance to talk too, really stood behind me on this endeavor. I raised a little over $50 and that will help me do approximately 60-70 bags for the kids. As you know, I have a show for March ARB on October 3rd, there is going to be approximately 300 kids. So, every little bit helps!
I also received a dozen t-shirts from TD racer Paul Gladden with a promise to send me about 40 more. These will help with my teen goody bags and my single soldier goody bags.
One more friend , Mike English, sent me about 20 Chevrolet hats! Those are going to go great in my single soldier bags too!
For those of you who had the chance to get one of the ribbons, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
For those of you whom I didn't get the chance to talk to....I'll see you in Vegas and I will be stocked to the gills with ribbons!
Well, that's enough from me for now....Take Care, Stay Safe, and I'll see you at the races!

Just a short note of HI!!
Just a reminder blog about a couple of upcoming events that Drag Race Girl will be at:

2. October 3rd March AFB - Family Appreciation Day
It is a fun-filled day for military families! They are going to have dunk tank, pony rides,

I want to thank in advance a few people and businesses!!! K&N, Lucas Oil, American Legion Post #291, Dar, Kendall, Glenn (as always), Debbie M., Barbara C., Mom, Dad, and I know there are others...I promise to get you in here next time!
Also, just to let you know, I am working on a logo for DRG (drag race girll) for t-shirts and sweatshirts. I'm trying to make it Unisex so the BOYS don't feel funny about wearing a DRG shirt...lol! I'm going to try and keep them inexpensive so EVERYONE can buy one!
Well, take care and I'll see you at the shows!

The American Legion Provide A Ride Event
I met a lot of interesting people, as always! I had one lady in particular that impressed me. She was blind and she rode on the back of one of the harleys! "What a Rush" she said, she also said she wished it were a longer ride! We both laughed!
They raffled off a 2009 Harley Street Glide....I wish I would have won it! I miss my bike! The person who did win, wasn't even present!
I met some new people from other American Legion posts. Hopefully I'll be working with them to bring the dragster to their events! One said they work with March AFB....That would be fun! I wonder who would win in the 1/4 mile....ME or an F-16? I know the F-16 would win, but a girl can dream can't she!! I also met "Disco", he's from the Harley shop in Fullerton...might be doing a show with them! And of course, I can't thank the following people ENOUGH: Dar and Bear, Glenn, Bruce, The Martins, The Ellings, Kendall, Dennis, OMG I can't list'em all! I'm gonna run out of space! But especially to everyone that supported the event THANK YOU!
Well, I'm out of here! Stay safe, and I'll see you at the races or the next show...whichever comes first!
Here are a few more pics from the event:

Weekend at Fontana
But we won't get into all of that! So, we start out with the steamed clams, well, whoever the chef was must have put vinegar in the mix! It was soooo bad, I couldn't even get one down. So, back they went. Glenn ordered the 2 item combo steak and salmon. The salmon was really good, the steak well, shoe leather. I ordered the shrimp trio, it was okay, but I have definitely had better!
Well, enough about that adventure!
We made it back to the trailer, saw some of our racing friends and called it a night.
Saturday morning we were up at 6 a.m. and excited to start the day of racing! We pulled out the car and got her all cleaned up, filled up, and aired up. Then we wait! and wait and wait! We started wondering why no one was going down the track. So Glenn and Rob take off on the scooter to find out what's up. Come to find out, one of our racing friends was in an accident in the pits. At that point we had no idea how bad it really was. Come to find out that he was working on his car and didn't put it up on jackstands. Well, the throttle stuck and he lost control of the dragster, while in the pits. It is estimated that he went about 300 feet at about 100 mph and crashed into the side of a trailer. He lost his life. Accidents can happen sooo fast with these machines, I just hope that all of us racers learn from this. There are reasons why there are safety rules in place! We didn't race Saturday, but I do have to say, I lost a little respect in the human race that day too! We gathered in the stands for the official announcement, and we were given the option of to race or not to race. The decision was actually split! There were people more worried about "points" than someone who just lost their life!
Enough on that subject....please check out this video....it's dedicated to Ronnie Marcum.....

Sunday, we raced! It was a hot day! We had 2 time trials. Then a drivers meeting. Then into 1st round. I went up against Megan Mckernan. I hate racing other girls!!! There's not that many of us as it is!! She had me on the tree, but I took the stripe and won. Then 2nd round came up and I had a door car! YUK!!! Those are not fun to race. So, we do the burn outs and stage the cars............ White, White, Yellow........RED!!!!!! .392 DDDDDUUUUUCCCCCKKKKK!
Oh I yelled all the way down the track! Then to top it off, what do I run for ET.....8.907 on a 8.90 index!!!!! Never fails! What light did my opponent have? .450!!! Oh well, just not my time to win yet!
So, back to the pit, packed up the car, said goodbye to our friends, took the trailer back to the storage yard and made it home safe and sound back to Brodie Jae! He stayed with Grandma! Spoiled rotten dog!
Well, I'm signing off for now....Don't forget August 22nd come see me at the Huntington Beach, CA Elks Club...7711 Talbert.....9 a.m. until ??
Take care, stay safe, and I'll see you at the races!!!!

Going into business
Basically I will be a marketing machine for local businesses and the money I make off of that, will go to racing (of course), but I will also turn it into more trips to see the troops and kids. In between all of that, I will be donating time and money to local charities like the American Legion and The Elks Club and even the ICS (international chili society). I will probably come up with t-shirts and the like to make even more, it all helps!
Well, that's it for the update for now.....
Take care and I'll see you at the races!

As always, take care and I'll see you at the races!!!!
No Sonoma...... : (
The first show was Harry Potter..the half blood prince, in which I saw with a couple of my friends. Then when I returned home, Glenn was feeling a little better and wanted to get out of the house, so, we went to see Public Enemies. I loved Harry Potter, of course! Public Enemies, in my opinion, was too long and too many close-ups of Johnny Depps pores! Also, too much shoot'em up for me too. But, some people like that kind of stuff.
On to another subject real quick.... Parallel parking! Is it really that difficult? As I sit in my trusty little window chair, I'm watching this one guy who after turning around in the middle of the road and blocked traffic, tried twice to park behind my car - there was enough room for him - then he pulls out, goes down the street turns around again and parallel parks across the street and it took him about 4 times to get it straight in the spot. He doesn't have a big SUV or even a big car, it's a Nissan 4 door Sentra (I think). Amazing!
So, today I'm just taking it easy and filling you all in the best I can. Not much on the agenda today.......
Keep your fingers crossed that we will make it to Sonoma next weekend for the Divisional race.
Well, as always, stay safe and I'll see you at the races!!!

I was back at the Legion by 9:00 and already tired!!! Luckily, the voluteers there set up my little EZ UP for me, boy they were a God send! So, I started getting the dragster all cleaned up and getting myself together to meet the masses. And there were definitely some masses!
I met so many great people, as I usually do, at this show. I even met some "Southern Boy" Marines. One was from Kentucky and I think the other was from Tennessee! Boy if I got that wrong - I'm in trouble!!! I met this one gentleman who is a videographer and has a website that is pretty cool: www.postyourmusic.com there is a picture on the web site of him sitting in my dragster! The rest of the show was comprised of a chili cook off and a Woody car show.
I had one lady(who owned a woody) come up and and ask where the wood was on the dragster! I told her it flew off when I went down the track last time....she was laughing!!
The most attention I got was when I started the car up! That was the fun part!!!! It stopped everyone in their tracks - I think I scared a couple of people too! I warmed the dragster up a little then I would RAP the motor up to about 3500 RPM so it would vibrate the people standing around me. The Smiles I saw after that were wonderful! That's what makes what Glenn and I do GREAT! Well, the show went on till 10 p.m. and I was one tired Drag Race Girl!
Thank you sooo much to the American Legion Post #291 for inviting me and thank you to all the people who donated money to have your pics taken in the car!
Well, as always, STAY SAFE and I will see you at the races!!! Remember to check back regularly to see the pictures that will be posted!

Happening things.....
She was at Pearblossom elementary where we showed the dragster. The 6th grade class sent me thank you notes and Riley was the only one who sent me her e-mail address and requested that we become penpals. So, I obliged. Hopefully we will have a long friendship.
Onto other items....
Saturday July 18th American Legion Surffest '09!!!!! Be there or you really are a bbbbaaaadddd person! As you know, Glenn and I will be showing the car and also, letting people sit in the car and have their pics taken for $1 each. All proceeds will be donated to the AL post #291!!!!!
Then the following weekend, we will be heading to Sonoma, CA! It's RACE time again!!!
YEAH!!! I love the smell of VHT in the morning. I'm looking forward to seeing all our friends and going down the track! Not to mention, a big bread bowl of clam chowder!!! OOOOHHH man, to the Wharf I come - Ghiradelli's is a girls dream! Nothing like a huge caramel and chocolate sunday to make your day!
Other than that -
We will be back in Sonoma the following weekend as well. Sooooooo
stay tuned and I will have pictures and tells from the road. Maybe we'll even find a new place to go while we are up there.
Take care, and I'll see ya at the races! : )

Short Update
I worked with the girls and guys doing Surffest 09 on a banner that we are going to hang by the dragster stating that for $1 you can have your picture taken in the car and all money will be donated to the American Legion to help support our troops!
Our next race will be July 23rd - 26th in Sonoma, CA. And we will be there the following weekend for a divisional race as well.
Then, I think, we are going to be headed to Seattle, WA to see my sister, brother-n-law, and my nephew and niece! I am soooo excited about that one!
Well, that's all for now......Take care and I'll see ya at the races
20 June 2009
Surf Fest Show!
It will be at the American Legion Post#291 on Balboa Island. It starts at 12 p.m. on July 18th and doesn't end until 10 p.m. that nite! It's gonna be a loooonnnnggg day. But it's going to be a lot of fun!
There's going to be a Woody car show and a chili cook-off, as well as, a couple of live bands.
Glenn says he wants to enter the chili cook off - he'd probably win if he did it!!!
I will post more as it happens.....
As always, stay safe and I'll see you at the races!!!!

Pearblossom Elementary School K-6
Well, it was detour time, so we jumped on the 210 through LA. It wasn't as bad as we thought it was going to be. Traffic was lite and we actually made it to the school by 10:30 a.m. Not to bad considering!
We had enough time to get the car out and cleaned up then the kids started showing up.
Take care and I will see you at the races!!!!!!

Fontana and the Socal SuperComp Assoc
Saturday, not so good on the racing scene, but great on the friends and camping part! Rob and Rosemary Flory, who are our very good friends, were out there with their daughter, Stephanie, and her best friend (nickname) Bubbles.
During the qualifying runs we just couldn't get our stuff together! So, I lost 1st round - BLAH!!!!
Saturday night we had tacos, burrito's, and homemade ice cream!
After a good nite's sleep, we got up and started with a new attitude! Made our one qualifying run and then waited for first round. I had Mandy Quigley and the right lane. It was a very good race and I got the win light.
Then we waited for 2nd round. We found out that I had to go up against Rob! Yep, our bestest racing buddy ever! So, he took the right lane and I took the left. I think Rob had a .423 lite to my .407 lite (WHEW) he went 8.897 and I was 8.906 IT WAS CLOSE!!!! I got the win lite again.
Then 3rd round came up and I was paired with Val Jr. We staged the cars and I blinked!!!!!
GGGGRRRRR.....yep, I was way late on the lite!!! Val got the win lite!
One of these days I'm gonna win! I just know it!
ONTO other news, Glenn and I are taking the car to the Elementary School tomorrow to show about 60 kids. With Rosemary's, Steph's and Bubbles help, we put together some goody bags for the kids. It's going to be a fun time! I can't wait.
Well, That's all for now. Take Care and I'll see you at the races!!!!!!!!
